James Backhoe Service provides you with a quality system which requires a very minimal amount of maintenance. Not only do we install your system, but we are there for the service and care when you need it. Included in the installation price, our serviceman will return to your system every 6 months for 2 years and do the minor maintenance necessary. This will guarantee your system functions as efficiently as possible. After the first two years, we will offer you a continuing service agreement where we will continue to take care of your system for you. The service is very simple and something you can even do yourself.

We have two important septic care products shown below
that will help to keep your system working properly:

Chlorine Tablets

Most state and local health department rules require the use of chlorine tablets on any open-discharging septic system where the effluent leaves your property. Chlorine tablets cleans up any leftover bacteria that gets out of the tank minimizing any possible odors. We have them available at our office in Dieterich or you can call us and we can drop them off when we are in your area. The recommended usage is one tablet per month in the chlorine feeder which is the first white pipe located behind your tank.

Note: These chlorine tablets are made especially for septic systems. They are much stronger than swimming pool tablets.

Aerobic Bacteria

Air-O-Paks are water soluble packets containing patented bacteria cultures which are able to digest proteins, fats, oils, grease, soaps, and chemicals found in cleaning products and work in both the settling chamber and aeration chamber of aerated units for trouble free septic performance.

Also, it is recommended with any septic system that you should have it pumped out approximately every 4-5 years depending on how much it is used.

The following items are not recommended for your septic system:

    • Strong disinfectants or bleaches, other than small amounts used in day to day house cleaning and laundries; excessive amounts of powdered detergent.
    • Backwash discharge from any type of water softeners.
    • Disposable diapers, tampons, sanitary napkins, large quantities of paper products, tobacco products, or similar items.
    • Home brewery waste, strong medicines, and antibiotics.
    • Cooking Grease
    • Paint, Drain Cleaners, Toilet Bowl Disinfectants (that hang in tank and turn water blue)
